Along with technological advances, Generator Sets underwent several changes and added features to meet the needs of electricity supply when the electricity went out.
A generator is a machine designed to generate electricity by converting dynamo or mechanical energy into electrical power. Now, many types of generators have been sold in the market to suit the needs of the place such as in several agencies, homes, restaurants, offices, and others.
Of course, every place has different needs. Here are the types of generators that you can know:
1. Gasoline Fueled Generator

The first type is a gasoline-fueled generator. These generators are commonly known as gasoline generators. As the name implies, this generator uses gasoline as its power source. This type of generator is a type of generator that is commonly used to supply home electricity.
Just like motorized vehicle engines, this gasoline-fueled generator is divided into 2 types, namely 2 strokes and 4 strokes. 2-stroke generators are generally only used for electricity needs below 1000 watts, usually to guard electricity in small shop houses, homes, and other places that require fairly small electrical power.
While generators 4 strokes are no more than that (1,000 watts to 10,000) are commonly used to meet electrical power such as an agency, restaurant, supermarket, and others. In addition, 2-stroke generators can produce greater torque than 4-stroke and have fewer engine components.
The advantage of this generator is that the engine sound and vibration are quite good and quiet so they are not too annoying. The disadvantage is that it uses gasoline, so it is quite expensive to supply its power source.
2. Diesel-fueled Generator

The second type of generator is a diesel-fueled generator. Diesel-fueled generators were the main choice before the gasoline-fueled generators. This diesel-fueled generator is commonly used to supply electricity for big events such as weddings, thanksgiving, and others.
This diesel-fueled generator is designed to be able to accommodate a fairly large amount of fuel and is also capable of producing power ranging from 10,000 watts to 100,000 watts.
But behind these advantages, diesel-fueled generators have a disadvantage, namely the noise and vibrations produced are noisy. But don’t worry, diesel generator sets have been equipped with several features, namely:
- Compact size (the size of the product is not too big), the generator size is not too big.
- Silent (the sound of the engine working is not too noisy), the sound and vibration generated from this generator is not too noisy.
- Low Emission (Low exhaust emissions), it will produce low-emission gas.
In addition to the above features, diesel-fueled generators are also equipped with a double starter, automatic choke, low oil indicator, low tank indicator, engine wheel, remote engine system features, and others.
3. Gas-fueled Generators

This type of generator is a generator that uses gas as its fuel. The gas used is usually LPG or Liquid Petroleum Gas or some use CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) gas.
This type of generator is a type of generator that is very rarely found because of its expensive price. However, this gas-fueled generator has the advantage that it emits very few gas emissions so it is environmentally friendly.
4. Solar Generators

This type of generator is a generator that uses solar power or the sun as a source of energy. Equipped with solar panels to absorb the sun’s heat and then stored and used as a source of energy.
Usually, this generator is used for houses or apartments and is placed at the top of the house together with solar panels. The advantage of this generator is that you don’t need to prepare fuel for this generator to run. Enough with just the sunlight to fuel this generator.
However, the drawback is that if there is no sunlight stored, this generator cannot be used.
5. Turbine Generator

A turbine generator is a type of generator that has the largest capacity among all types of generators. The capacity that can be accommodated by this generator is up to 2 million watts.
With such a large capacity, this type of generator is commonly used for large places such as malls, hospitals, factories, and others.
This generator is also claimed to be able to turn on electricity for a small village because of its large capacity. The drawback of this generator is, of course, it is clear that this generator is not an arbitrary or common generator. This generator also has a very big design.
6. Portable Generator

Portable generators are generators with the smallest size among other types of generators. This generator is very useful for outdoor purposes and when you want to travel. Portable generators are also provided in the silent type, which is the type of generator that tends to be quiet when operated.
The advantage of this generator is its small design and easy to carry anywhere. The drawback is that the capacity provided by this type of generator tends to be small.
