One of the most important cooking tools for baking dishes in the oven. Still, it turns out that there are problems with cooking in the oven, one of which is that the oven is not hot enough.
Of course, this problem can lead to baked foods that aren’t done right. Even sometimes, the heat in the oven isn’t even, so only one side of the food gets cooked.
So, there’s no reason not to know what causes the following ovens not to heat up so that the food can be cooked and not go bad.
1. Incorrect Oven Temperature
If it takes longer than usual to bake something and it’s still not done when you take it out of the oven, the temperature might not be right. Several things are going on that make the temperature wrong.
First, the oven’s temperature sensor does not work right. This can happen if the sensor is broken or if the sensor hits the oven wall. Fixing it is easy. Just make sure the sensor isn’t touching the inside of the oven wall, which can cause the oven’s temperature to be off.
Check if the temperature sensor is still working by using an ohm-meter. Normally, the sensor resistance should go up as the oven’s temperature goes up. If nothing changes, you should change the temperature sensor right away.
If you replaced the temperature sensor, but the oven temperature didn’t change, or the oven temperature wasn’t right, calibrate it. This is to make sure that the oven temperature is correct. It’s pretty easy to set up.
Heat the oven to 176.67 degrees Celsius, then check the thermometer after 20 minutes and every 20 minutes for 1.5 hours for the next 2 hours. Then, divide the number of temperature readings by how often temperature readings are taken to find out how close the temperature is to 176.67 degrees Celsius.
2. There is a problem with the heat source
If the oven uses gas, the lighter could be broken. Do a test on one of the combustion elements to make sure it’s not a big gas leak.
This part of the oven that burns things is a small metal tube near the top or bottom of the oven.
Check to see if the part gets gas and lights up correctly or not at all. When you set the oven’s temperature, you should hear a “click” followed by a “whoosh,” which means that the gas is on.
But if not, turn off the oven right away. And what needs to be done is to change out the oven’s lighter part.
If an electric oven isn’t getting hot, the problem could be with the hot element. If you use the oven too much, these parts can get broken or worn out. You can tell if this is the case by looking at the hot parts of the oven and seeing if they are red or not. If not, change the hot element right away with a new one.
3. There is a problem with the Igniter
The part of the oven that lights the gas in the oven is called the “igniter.” If an oven’s igniter is broken and takes a long time to turn on, this changes how hot the oven gets.
You can use a multimeter to find out if the igniter is still working or not. If you don’t have a multimeter, watch the flame in the oven. If the oven has been on for 90 seconds or more without the gas flame starting, the igniter needs to be replaced.
And those are a few of the reasons why the oven is not hot. We hope it will be helpful.
