How to Install a Set Top Box

A set-top box is a piece of technology that changes the signals on an analog TV into digital signals. With the set-top box, people can watch digital TV broadcasts the right way, and the images get clearer and clearer as time goes on.

Make sure that the set-top box you choose has a Kominfo certificate so that the picture quality is good. This means that the set-top box is covered by a warranty and can work well enough to pick up digital signals. Digital Video Broadcasting – Second Generation Terrestrial, or STB DVB-T2, which is a part that can pick up digital signals, must also be in the set-top box.

Most of the time, a set-top box has:

  1. A set-top box.
  2. RCA cables are cables that have red, white, and yellow colors.
  3. Remote control

But in some cases, people who buy set-top boxes can also get things like HDMI cables, which are an alternative to RCA cables (special cables for TVs without tubes), Wi-Fi dongles for people who want to watch YouTube or IPTV, and special antennas that pick up UHF or VHF signals.

If you look closely, you’ll see that a set-top box doesn’t have that many parts. Still, not many people know how to set up a set-top box so that it can pick up digital signals.

Check out the steps below to learn how to install a set-top box correctly.

  1. Cut the cable that is connected to the TV’s antenna. This antenna cable will be hooked up to the back of the set-top box. ANT IN is written on the set-top box where the antenna plugs in.
  2. Once it is set up, you can connect the set-top box to the TV using an RCA or HDMI cable. For TVs with tubes, connect the RCA cable by matching the colors on the TV and set-top box. And if your TV has an HDMI port, you should use an HDMI cable.
  3. If everything is hooked up, the next step is to plug the set-top box and TV into a power source. Also, make sure that the power cable is connected to the set-top box.
  4. Turn on the TV, then switch the analog TV to AV mode and type in the local zip code.
  5. Select “auto search” from the “channel search” menu to start looking for digital signals. It’s important to note that each region has a different way of capturing digital signals, so the number of channels received is also different.

  14. The set-top box will automatically save the channels or TV shows that it has found.

As a second tip, if you’re not using the TV, turn off the set-top box and unplug it from the power source. This is done so that the set-top box’s parts don’t get too hot.
