Analog television is very dependent on the frequency of the transmitter signal or radio that is captured by the antenna, where weather conditions will certainly greatly affect the level of picture and sound that will be displayed. In addition, the format is still divided into two, video and audio.

Broadly speaking, analog television uses radio signals that transmit video formats to AM and audio to FM, and can only receive UHF antenna signals.

The quality displayed is also worthy of being a differentiating factor between the two. If on analog television the display is limited to standard size and visual quality, it is different from digital television which will have a clearer display and wider size or bandwidth.

This is again due to the transmitter factor, or rather the distance. Analog television still relies heavily on the distance of the transmitter to display the best quality, while digital television does not.

In addition, the difference in image quality is because analog television still uses cathode ray tubes. In contrast to digital television that is more modern, which uses a flat panel screen that supports displaying images with high resolution or high definition (HD) equivalent to 720p/ 1080p, or there are even certain digital televisions that allow it to display resolutions up to 4k.

3. The Size of the Screen

In general, analog television is identical to its large shape and has a convex screen, or usually better known as tube TV. The regular size is very limited and doesn’t have much choice, only 30 inches.

While on digital television, the size will be more flexible where the standard screen width is 50 inches and the thin bezel gives a modern impression there.

4. The Feature

The screen size and the thin frame or bezel are the main characteristics of digital television. However, it cannot be ascertained or distinguished when viewed from this perspective alone. Features are also important determinants in distinguishing what category a television will fall into.

A digital television must have features that support, namely digital broadcast search or DTV. In the process, users are required to have STB (Set Top Box) DVB-T2 (digital video broadcasting terrestrial second generation) as a useful addition to receive signals without an external antenna.

This additional section also has the advantage that it will save you from having to spend more to buy a new television if you want to watch digital broadcasts. This is because the function of STB is basically to convert digital signals into images and audio that can also be displayed on analog television.

However, it should be noted that STB is easy to obtain because it is freely traded, however, to be able to capture digital analog TV signals requires an additional digital antenna as an output for what will be broadcast. Make sure to choose a good television antenna.

Even though analog television still has its advantages, over time it will definitely be abandoned as well. Nowadays, many people prefer digital television.
